Sudesh Rocharam: India’s Rising Star on the Green
New Delhi, India — From the fairways of Chandigarh to the championship greens of Dubai, Sudesh Rocharam is quickly establishing himself as one of India’s most promising talents in professional golf.
Born and raised in Ahmedabad, Rocharam first picked up a golf club at age 11, inspired by watching Tiger Woods highlights with his grandfather. What began as a weekend hobby soon turned into an obsession. By his late teens, Sudesh was dominating junior circuits across the country. After earning a golf scholarship at a prestigious sports academy in Pune, he transitioned into the professional ranks in 2021.
Since then, Rocharam has competed on the Asian Tour and made waves with a top-5 finish at the Hero Indian Open in 2024. Known for his calculated putting and unflappable composure, his strengths lie in his short game and course management. “Golf teaches you patience, and every round teaches you something new about yourself,” he said during a recent post-match interview.
Off the course, Sudesh is a strong advocate for youth golf in India. Through his “Rocharam Rising” initiative, he sponsors clinics and equipment for underprivileged aspiring golfers.
With his eyes set on qualifying for the DP World Tour, Sudesh Rocharam represents not only the next generation of Indian golf but also a powerful symbol of the sport’s growing reach across the subcontinent.
